East Jakarta Gulkarmat Drains Standing Water in RW 01 Cawang

The East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agency is draining floodwaters in residential area of RT 04 and 05/RW 01, Cawang Urban Village, Kramat Jati, Saturday (4/9).

Today, we continue to drain the standing water in RT 04 and 05/RW 01 Cawang

East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-agency's Fire Control and Rescue Section Head Gatot Sulaeman stated that 8 personnel had been dispatched to drain the 130-centimeter-high standing water since Friday (4/8). It was drained using two floating pumps and one pump car with a capacity of 2,500 liters per second.

"Today, we continue to drain the standing water in RT 04 and 05/RW 01 Cawang because it rained again yesterday," he explained.

He assessed that it was caused by the malfunctioned water channel due to the construction of a reservoir at the site by the apartment developer.

"We channel the water disposal to Ciliwung River through drainage channels," he said.

On last Friday (4/8), East Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar and his subordinates visited the location.

He asked developers to be professional and follow technical recommendation for reservoir construction. Thus, it did not cause problems in residential areas. He also emphasized that he would temporarily take over the reservoir construction to prevent flooding in residential area.

"It turns out the residential area has been inundated for almost a week. We are trying to build the outlets while preparing four mobile pumps to drain the standing water," he asserted.
